Origin / historical background

Feok is associated with Builsa historical memory of resistance to slave raiding and has developed into a major annual cultural gathering. Children, youth & transmission

Feok provides an intergenerational setting in which children and young people encounter Builsa history, performance, dress, language and community identity. BulukOnline should document youth participation through approved photographs, interviews and school/community perspectives.

The festival brings communities and visitors together and creates opportunities for cultural tourism, hospitality, local trade, crafts, public discussion and diaspora homecoming. Economic claims should be supported by event-specific evidence rather than assumed.

Historical timeline & notable editions

Nineteenth-century resistance to slave raiding forms a central strand of Feok historical memory. Scholarship records the later development of public commemoration and war-dance performance. In 2023 Ghana News Agency again documented Feok as an annual cultural gathering, NAFAC 2024 featured Builsa Lealik performance nationally, and the 2026 Feok edition has been launched for December 2026 with the exact day still awaiting authoritative confirmation.
